The Best Place, Really

2024.06.07

Good morning that wonderful way.

And here we are, again.

Mornings and no mayhem.

Life and liberty and the pursuit of a suit to go to a ball, if only the woman I was going with would fit me for it, would pick it out for me.

Because you ought to look good when you go out, ought to be kind to the eye of your company.

Perception and the images of life everlasting, at least of a single day.

An quote from the world of rock and roll,

"It's all the same day, man."

Sort of.

The same day with different pieces, the same puzzle with different pieces left to piece together.

But that train of logic describes a composition being arranged to make a picture.

The picture of your life.

The finished piece all the pieces head towards isn't printed on the box, though.

This painting is of you. You say where each goes, you find what fits.

Some of us try to jam edges where they don't belong.

Some make hammers for fists and pound what doesn't fit into where it can never go.

There is a flow to life, a place where the pieces fit.

We spend our days going with our best lives or pounding out days to press pound push into places they just don't work in.

We work best in certain ways, so we should work in that certain way.

The puppy grows up with only cats in the house and believes itself one and has a miserable go at it.

The swan finds itself with ducks and goes to see Dr. Quack for its medication quack-up once a month.

We work best in our own certain way.

The idea is to find it, embrace it, and build something from that state.

How do we know when we find it?

When we're doing something, and we don't feel as though we ought to be doing something else, we're in it.

When we do what we love we're loving life and so that love becomes our identity.

We give the product of that work to the world, and ourselves in the world.

We give the day the results of our labor for our love of life.

And so, our world becomes a home built from the labors of love.

Not such a bad place to live.

The best place, really.

The most beautiful puzzle put together.

Our best life.
