Wonder Worthwhile

Good morning that wonderful way.
What now? What next?
A "How are you?" works.
What's new?
How'd you sleep?
Many pleasantries for many masters.
On with the show.
The dark loves a promise; sunrise is a promise kept.
The owls setup shop the other side of the backyard fence.
Nighttime BOP-life.
I left the backyard light on so they could have a Rave.
Glowsticks around their can-nearly-spin 180 degrees necks.
How is it with you?
Up all night dance party?
Sleep all night strong dreams?
Enter deep thoughts.
Wonder what dreams are for?
Don't you?
The older I get the more I believe they're our true purpose. The quality of our imaginative life is really the most interesting thing about us.
We focus so much on flesh, and touch, and all things scientific.
Perhaps it's because we share touch.
But, if we stop and consider it we share dreams, too.
Every story, every word uttered and made, adds to the quality of each of our dreams of life.
Like dragons and Gnome and magic and compassion and treating each other right what Space is for and how a dog after years of not seeing you picks you out of a crowd comes running, wags its tail like a hurricane, and burrows itself into your shins and whimpers, too worked up in its welcome back bark.
Dogs and cats sleep most of the day. We call them lucky. "It's a dog's life," we say because they get to rest all day.
But is it rest? What do cats and dogs dream?
Sometimes their legs twitch and run while they do. Sometimes they whine or snore.
They're much better at playing than us. Why not stay up all day and do that?
Not arbitrary questions, things we ought to think about.
Our systems of measure have to grow.
Science made us vain and hubris is the cause of every tragedy.
Wonder went out the window over the centuries.
Space and tiny atomic particulates are where it's at these days.
Both of little use to us compared to what sleep is for.
We're as blind as we are in Space when it comes to the imagination.
We're in The Dark Age of Science.
I often talk about recognizing the importance of dreams before our machines make us feel obsolete.
I'm often serious.
Always serious.
Not many things are more serious than humor. Wit makes the world worthwhile, makes touch transcendent.
Dragons and ghosts and hundreds of other myths.
Superhero stories and sitcom shows.
Pop music fantasies define our days.
Whether you listen for the beat or the lyrics, your day is defined by such things.
You can have an Old Spiritual stuck in your head in a monastery or a Heavy Metal Ballad.
Music matters more than we realize. Shapes our days in unsaid ways.
Artistic styles guide our view of the world.
A digital portrait of a family provokes a different feeling than an impressionist one.
A Cubist bowl of fruit tastes different than an Art Deco one.
Enter those as prompts into any AI image designer and you'll see it's true.
And color... color matters so much more in so many more wonderful ways than we know.
Nature's expression.
Each of us is a painted prism of the Earth. Mother Nature's daydreams come true.
It's poetic, sure. And absolutely necessary we start thinking more along its lines.
An evolutionary necessity that we do.
We can only count so high, our old ways of measure do nothing but witness us die.
Take care, take some time for a deep thought or two, and have a better day.
